Hi Alex

Firstly, congrats to Romi who won this competition, it was well deserved.

Secondly, i think it was well organised, and it gave an oppurunity for photographers to showcase their work. My personal opinion is, if you didn't win or you weren't shortlisted, there will certainly be more oppurtinities and more competitions. The best submission in the end did win.

I'm honoured to have been shortlisted and hope to work with you guys in the future.

Best of luck to all!

Hey guys, thanks for your feedback.

We will give a detailed reason for why the winning photographer was selected as such.

The criteria for the judges was the same as was in the brief: we were looking for a unique vision conveyed through a photographic treatment that would give the Levi Strauss brand a distinctive and relevant look.

Possible reasons for treatments not making the cut would be:

a treatment was familiar / had been seen on other, possibly competitor brands;
it might have worked well as a once-off treatment but wouldn't have legs / could not be reinterpreted for new campaigns / ideas;
a treatment might not have reflected the brand values and essence as stated in the brief, amongst other reasons.

Due to company confidentiality agreements, we cannot answer all your questions about the judging process, but we will most definitely post the shortlist, and give a detailed breakdown about why the winning photographer was successful.

Sound good?

I'm with Mark on wishing to see the shortlist. Will be a very interesting to see how we all interpreted the brief. Please post them.

The rules say "by" the 28th, so it can be sooner.

What I'd like to see is all the work by the shortlisted photographers so we can get an idea of what the judges were looking for.

Will the winner be announced earlier, or do we still need to sweat it out till the 28th???

Hey Everyone

Just to update you on where we are with The Search for the Levi's® Photographer:
I am excited to announce that a winner has been chosen, and we are super excited about it, but we can't say who it is just yet. We will be releasing the name fairly soon though. There are some incredibly talented photographers in South Africa, and it's a pity we can't use them all.

The judging process was a tough one since we ended up with a shortlist of very, very strong contenders, of which 50% are not full-time professional photographers. On the whole the exercise has been an inspiring and fascinating one, and just in case you didn't hear me the first billion times I said thank you for entering, I'd just like to say it again: Thank you.

Hey Guys

Sorry about the email bouncing this weekend. We really didn't have any clue we'd get so many entries, and our 20 GB mailbox simply didn't cope. Midnight tonight is the new deadline for submissions, so please don't worry about your work not being accepted.

If you have any further questions, please direct them to bobbi@kingjames.co.za, where you should send your entries as well. You can also call her on 072 930 7473. Bobbi is running the competition from an entries and admin side, and I am simply running this group, so she's your lady.

Apologies guys, we really are sorry.

Alex
