Over the past fews days / weeks (time is a sketchy concept to me), I've noticed a certain line of posters springing up around Cape Town. I first spotted one on the green poster tower on Roeland Street street near Viglietti Motors (that auto-shop with the glistening Masertis and Ferraris). I tried discovering what it was about online, to no avail. However, earlier today I saw a tweet linking these mysterious posters to this blogspot blog. It appears the campaign is focussed on raising public awareness around the Triple Helix viral DNA cloning experiment. According to the blog: "The experiment is an exercise to investigate viral DNA anatomy, to better understand how a virus spreads and ultimately, how it can be contained. It has been indicated that DNA anatomy relating to a virus such as the influenza virus (h0n1) could provide clues and answers in achieving exclusive protective immunity. The public is requested to forward information and links back to this site and onto personal social networks to enhance this public awareness campaign."

However, how effective is this campaign? Personally I thought it was some sort of advert for a new shoe design competition, given the shoelaces. And when you take into account that few seem to have identified the represented structure as DNA, how effective is it? Apparently there will be more flyers and posters to come...I guess only time will tell.
