FARRYL PURKISS
Farryl Purkiss is a South African born singer-songwriter. Farryl first picked up the guitar when he was fifteen years old and began writing songs shortly after his sixteenth birthday. He self released an EP in 2005 that created waves in Durban and later that year began talks with 2Feet Music. He was signed to 2Feet Music soon after and started performing heavily outside of South Africa leading up to the release of his full length debut album, released in South Africa in 2007, to high acclaim, chart success and award nominations. He has since spent most of his time touring the world with over 140 gigs in 2007 and early 2008 .
“Fruitbats & Crows” (2009) is the long awaited follow up to Farryl Purkiss’s 2006 internationally critically acclaimed self titled album. In the past three years, Purkiss has toured Australia three times, Europe, USA and of course, South Africa. He’s had radio success in all of the above territories including Japan and a #1 in France with “La-Di-Da”. His songs have been used in campaigns by Nissan (Greece), Audi (UK), MTN (South Africa) as well as placement in the international film “Adopted” (featuring Pauly Shore). In 2007 he was voted the most popular musician by Heat Magazine (South Africa) and has been featured by every major newspaper, magazine, TV show and radio station in South Africa as well as an ambassador for Woolworths.
LOUISE DAY
Talented singer/songwriter Louise Day has been captivating audiences and stealing hearts since the age of ten. A true Cape Town girl though and through, her unique blend of what local press have coined Piano-root Rock, delivered by her outstanding lingering vocals, has been showcased at some of the trendiest and musically influential venues in South Africa – The Assembly, Grand West Arena, V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre, Constantia Nek, The Waiting Room, Back 2 Basix, The Cape Farmhouse, Zula Bar, to name but a few, as well as some premier music festivals in SA, and some high profile corporate shows for clients like Old Mutual and Reeds Motor Group.
Her music career started seriously when an itch to explore the international music scene lead her to the United States where she settled for a year in Aspen, Colorado in 2005. There she began performing at Aspen’s premiere live music venue, “Bellyup” (www.bellyupaspen.com), regularly opening for visiting internationally recognized artists, including the likes of the acclaimed ‘Grace Potter & The Nocturnals’ and ‘The English Beat’.
This exposure resulted in a tremendous demand for her talents, and her remaining time was spent performing as a Fender Musician at the Winter X Games and Tempe Music Festival in Arizona, performing on the same stage as many international artists such as John Mayer and The Fray, as well as regular appearances on East Coast Plum TV with the ‘Morning, Noon and Night Show’. In 2006, she made her mark on Fender USA when she was approached to endorse their new range of guitars for women.
